GPA Growth

5:00 minute read

Having a GPA below a 2.0 may impact your chances of getting accepted into the program you want.

Here’s what you can do to increase your chance of acceptance.

  1. Figure out what your cumulative GPA is, as well as how many credits and what grade you'll need in order to raise your GPA to at least a 2.0.
    • If you have transcripts from multiple schools, you can utilize them to figure out your cumulative GPA based on course grades and credits.
  2. Once you know how many credits and what grades you’ll need, you can:
    • Explore returning to your previous school to retake the classes where you earned lower grades. Schools will often allow you to retake a class and replace your lower grade with a new grade. If you consider this route, be sure to connect with the Financial Aid Office to discuss the potential financial implications. Typically, students are not permitted to use financial aid to retake a course.
    • Enroll in general education classes at a local community college to raise your GPA.
    • Enroll in general education classes at a local community college to raise your GPA. You might even be able to earn an AA along the way, and ReUp can help you with this! We have college partners with fewer restrictions on GPA requirements for admittance that offer a number of online Associates degree programs.
    • Then, if a Bachelor's degree is your goal, you can transfer those credits and pursue additional courses to obtain your Bachelor’s degree.
